RYANAIR REFUNDS

RYANAIR REFUNDS. Just a heads up. Like thousands of other folk waiting for refunds (in our case since March 21st), we were sent vouchers. Not knowing if/when airlines will be flying again balanced again when we will feel safe to fly, I contacted my bank (Barclays) via their messaging service and requested a charge back (as per Martin Lewis Money Saving Expert) to my debit card.
It took several messages back and forth, but I am astonished and pleased to say the money is back in my account!!!
Yay!!!! Will probably be blacklisted now!!!!
Try it folks....its a moral victory if nothing else for the common people!!!
Just go to your on line bank and go the secure messaging bit. They will need to know the date, time, amount, airline etc etc. State that you want a refund not a voucher as you have paid for goods ie a flight that wasn't delivered!! Tell them you dont want a voucher as no one knows when airlines will be flying again, and that you dont know when you will feel safe to fly!! You will go round the houses...took me about 8 times, and a different person came back every time, but persistence won!!!
They will ask if the airline is ATOL protected and if so you should approach them. As Ryanair is Eire based, they are not ATOL protected. Hope this help!!

In future pay use PayPal to pay for all your flights, it’s so easy to get your money back.

That’s interesting Spider. I have seen with eBay buyer/seller disputes PayPal massively favours the buyer, I guess this is the same. Never considered using PayPal for flights. Thanks for the tip.

I used PayPal to pay for my flights but I booked them last July so unfortunately I'm out of time to claim through PayPal. I only live in hope Emirates will one day give me my money back.

That's very interesting. I was lead to believe, and I'm sure many others too, that you could only claim a chargeback if you made your purchase using a Credit Card and not Debit Card.
Having just read the Martin Lewis piece, Debit Cards are indeed covered albeit at the banks discretion and also includes amounts under £100 which Section 75, the Credit Card Chargeback dont cover.
That's an excellent piece of knowledge to have in your kit bag when needed Paul, and I'm sure many will benefit from knowing it.
