Is this why Leicester is back in lockdown?

No, don't be silly. Leicester has a hot-spot and has responded correctly to contain.

They should be applauded.

Ps I'm not in England but they should be praised for the progress, despite recent isolated events.

Stat positive, stay safe and I'll hopefully 'see' you all in a couple of weeks.

Could it be something to do with the illegal protest held a couple of weeks ago ?

Oh sorry , I forgot , these protests were encouraged by many in the media at the time if I remember rightly and we should all remember that Black Lives Matter protesters are immune to Covid 19 and the law .

If so, then we should expect similar rises in London, Manchester, Bristol and Glasgow.

However, possible better explanations are factories re-opening with little self isolation. Leicester also has, a higher than average households with multi generations living in them and high areas of deprivation.
Taken together this is a perfect storm for spiking.

Good news indeed

I saw Matt Hancock talking about this on ITV yesterday.....oh no they are too scared of Piers Morgan it must have been the "lefty" BBC he was on.

The original post is a good one, if you don’t let the facts get in the way of the truth.
Of course, death levels will reduce to normal or below normal levels, and that is simply because many people who were old or had underlying health problems died EARLY. They cannot die twice - once in April and again in June. They lost part of their life and suffered as well. Many people had their loved ones taken away from them early.
No matter what spin you want to put on things, you should take into account:
1) There have been 63,000 excess deaths in the UK this year up until now.
2) On total excess deaths, the UK is second highest in the world, just behind the USA who have a five times larger population.
3) On total excess deaths per million people, the UK is second highest in the world.
And now the UK government is considering putting 36 towns back into lockdown in the coming days.

Sadly true, but my OP looks at the positive.

Bojo has blood on his hands, he has allowed tens of thousand of elderly English folk to perish early. Hopefully he pays the price at the ballot box. I suspect not though as Blue Passports will soon be the main staple.
