The Community of Valencia has issued rules for community pool it's the Presidents decision to open or close because if something goes wrong it's his head on the block, plus the community can have a very large fine, his job today with Covid-19 is thankless.

A President can close a pool if he/she thinks there is a health hazard. If the filters packed in, would you have to wait for an AGM before you got out?
Yes, some are taking it a bit far but if disinfecting procedures, banning of communal sunbeds and keeping your distance both in and around the pool isn't working then the President would be derelict in his duty by not closing it.

But let's use a little common sense. All the pools on our complex are open and the procedures are being adhered to. If we suddenly get busy now flights and ferries are operating (and we're already seeing an influx) then we may have to go back to booking a slot and ensuring things are disinfected on a more regular basis.

If, as you say, only 9 properties out of 50 are occupied at the moment and safety precautions are being taken then I see no reason why the pool is closed unless it is very tiny and you're all bumping into each other or there is a problem with the cleanliness and levels in the pool.

Our admin company says as long as safety regs/cleaning/distancing etc is being adhered to, then the pool should be open. This includes allowing family members on holiday and second home owners access to the pool. Common sense and treating people like adults is the fair way in these unusual times. instead some presidents think they are king of the castle.

The admin can have an opinion but, ultimately the president has final say, especially under “force majeur”. It’s not about throwing his or her weight around but they have a duty to the community to see that it is run correctly and people are kept safe. It’s a thankless task being president, you can’t win whatever you do and no one else, usually, wants to do it. Rarely will anyone speak to you if they have a gripe but will discuss it with all and sundry or canvass opinions off fora!

Why don’t you take on the President’s position at the next AGM....?

It really is a thankless task and as already said nobody wants to do it but they all complain.
