Can anyone tell me whether putting a pool cover on our pool whilst we are in the uk would stop it going green or getting black algae and
Keep it in a reasonable
Condition for when we come back? We have tried so many pool people and it’s always great to start with but before too long we are having to sort the pool out as soon as we arrive, so we are fed up with paying for a service that we are not getting. Looking for advice please

It would certainly help. Algae needs light to grow so a pool cover should prevent it. You could also put a 5l bottle of Antialgas or winter maintenance in it. I use the Antialgas from Mercadona, €5.49 for 5 litres.

we were always told not to use a pool cover and that pools have to breathe! If you away half the year you should'nt really have a place with your own pool. We have a pool man who comes every week in winter too to maintain it and it sparkles all ywar round. You wont find anyone just to maintain it for half a year as woukd need to be emptied and refilled for the summer which would cost you twice as much as maintaing it all year round.

You would be much better spending that money you are about to pay out for a cover on a better pool company ,
