New rules when travelling to England.

I have read and reread the new rules and find then obscure It says that we will no longer require to have a PCR test if fully vaccinated and then says that the cheaper lateral flow test can be used but do they mean instead of the PCR test or the 2nd day test which is usually fine once we are home?
This comes into effect on 4th October so by changing my flights and not paying for 4 tests we could fly to London and stay a few days with family. The only draw back would be not getting our usual duty free to bring home fir friends in NI.

No pre departure Antigen required, then day 2 PCR scrapped and replaced with a day 2 Antigen, about half the price of the PCR.

At the moment the only change is as follows

Testing requirements will also be reduced for eligible fully vaccinated travellers, who will no longer need to take a PDT (pre departure test) when travelling to England from Monday 4 October from 4am.

Then it goes on to say

Future changes but no definite date yet for its introduction as follows:

The Day 2 and Day 8 test requirements for fully vaccinated.
These have not changed but may change by end of October in time for mid-term break to Antigen test on Day 2 and PCR test on Day 8

Are the regs the same for Scotland,Wales and Northern Ireland.

Many thanks it’s starting to look cheaper to get home if you live in England!
In truth, I’d be Far happier if we continued with our Antigen tests for flying . Even if we all had to buy the cheaper tests for them ourselves, most people flying would feel a great deal more comfortable.

Bit of an unqualified, sweeping statement that.

Do you not agree Glassful? Just because we are vaccinated doesn’t mean we can’t get Covid. I’d far prefer to have to have a negative test for flying.
