I've been asked to research getting this done by paying privately, they are in the health service but feel they can't keep waiting any longer, anyone had this done and if so any recommendations.

Sorry, don’t know the answer to that but This may help while waiting. Hydrocortisone injections. They last about 3 months.

I had a total knee replacement in Murcia with a company called Operarme. Cost just less than 9000 euros.

I’ve had 2 hydrocortisone injections previously in UK, worked wonders. But as far as I know you can only have 3.

Thanks everyone who talked about hydrocortisone injections, I'm not sure if they have been down that route, but I will pass the info on.

Longleygordon.

I would be interested in your experience of using Operarme, hospital Mesa del Castillo in Murcia is one of the places they asked me to check out.

I had my Left knee replaced June 2020, although I was on the NHS waiting list, my consultant got me in at BUPA Washington (Tyne & Wear), I had to go through a load of checks prior to Surgery, Blood Pressure, BMI, Breathing, Weight, as well as the COVID Checks that were needed at the time, I also had 3 x lots of Blood tests over 5 days, the day I did the final checks and got the Nod, the nurse said that I was the only 1 who had been selected out of 20 that had been checked that day, others had failed on Weight, Breathing, Blood Pressure, BMI, etc The cost of the op at the Time was £ 13,500.00 ish, and I was awake throughout it all, I had an Injection in the Spine to numb the pain, but you can still hear & feel him sawing the bone, and driving the knee pieces in with a "lump Hammer", a very Invasive procedure, and I would not go through it again, even though my other knee is now "Bone on Bone", as was the other "pre op", also they don't tell you about the reduced mobility after you have had it done, or the pain during Rehab / Physio, Good Luck !
