Talk Quesada forum

Hi All,

Well, we did it. We are just back from Alicante and have paid a deposit, got a solicitor and opened a bank account. We engaged SGM solicitors and they have made everything go like clockwork so far. Thumbs up to Charlotte in SGM for making it so easy. We will soon be the owners of a detached villa. (Map attached with green circle indicating area)

Anyone any comments on the area - is it good or bad, quiet or busy? All comments welcome including critical ones?

Are you going to live in Quesada permanently or just holiday home as if holiday home non-resident there was no need to open a bank account.

Yes, I agree with your comment. Our hand was forced a bit and we were up against another active bidder with more viewings scheduled the next morning. The villa needs nothing done to it and is in great condition. (Refurbished 18 months ago) We asked a friend who lives in Quesada before we paid the deposit and they said its a nice quiet area with no hassle. They have a golf friend who lives a couple of streets away and they love it there. Anyway, the deed is done and we are just looking for some comments on the area just to reassure ourselves that it was not a rash decision to jump and pay a deposit. At the end of the day, we could pull out and lose €3000 but its not something I would want to do.

Hi Bee,

Thanks for your reply. We will be living there full time in about 3 months. We were told we will need the bank account to facilitate payment of utility bills and for general banking. Is this an area you are familiar with?

If you are going to be resident then you need a Spanish Bank Account and will probably get a better deal on charges. If non-resident you don't need a Spanish bank account. A lot of non-resident members on here have closed their Spanish bank accounts due to the high maintenance charges.

I would rather lose €3000 than continue to buy something in the wrong area
There is a lot of expenses buying in Spain , so
you really need to be sure before you commit , even if
other people are interested

We bought a villa 5 years ago in El Raso
Didn’t really do our homework about the area , but saw
the beautiful detached villa , and went for it
Never really worked for us

We did our homework fell in love with El,Raso and absolutely love living here, but you are right the location is most important and as we’ve proved what’s right for one isn’t for another. We have everything we need within a 15 minute walk except for the major supermarket chain which pulled out of the CC. We love the mix of nationalities around us and have made lots of new friends.

I believe that area is known as Atalaya Park. I don't know much about it but it is very convenient for Quesada Town. I haven't heard anything bad about it at least but hopefully there is someone on the forum who is familiar with the area.
