Hi
I'm arriving in Santander port from the UK and was wondering if any pet owners who have used the port, could advise on the procedure when getting off the ship. What paperwork was checked? Did they scan your pet for a microchip and how long the process took.
Many thanks.

Hi, if I remember correctly. We drove off the ship and queued up for the customs exit, handed in our passports and id cards. Our dog sitting in the back. All items handed back, we then drove out of the port with no problems.I am guessing your dogs uk passport is up to date.Good luck and any more questions please ask.
Regards,
Bob

Get him an E.U passport when you finally get into Spain, if your thinking of travelling frequently, we did. Makes travelling easier for pets...... not us humans though lol

The layout at Santander is constantly changing as they build new inspection points. After the border check follow the signs for pets. Your paperwork and chip is checked there. Quite painless and you are through in a few minutes

All three above info correct
We returned to U.K. 3 weeks ago and process was seamless
Only issue was in lifts to pet kennels and accommodation as several stressed dogs going up in lifts presents problems etc
Safe journey
