Buying a new car on HP

I've been told that prior to the pandemic it was cheaper to buy a new car on finance than to pay with cash. That people would take out finance on the car at a cheaper rate, pay monthly for a year and then pay the remainder off without incurring any extra cost. Is this still the case.

You need to ask at the dealer. We got a great deal at Dacia three years ago (mid pandemic) and paid off early after two years without penalty, but agreed in writing in advance. Obviously there is interest to pay, but we got free insurance, free servicing and extended warranty etc which made it well worth it. No idea if such deals are still available now though.

We are residents. But I was just trying to find out if it's cheaper to pay up front or on HP.

On a second hand car, say 2 to 4 years old, with some of the big dealers, the price quoted will be up to a couple of grand less if you buy with finance, but the cost of the finance will probably mean you will actually pay more.

Do you have any idea roughly what a Nissan Quashai would cost per month on lease?
