As you say your home in UK is only 12 miles from the tunnel your best and totally safe option is to have the garage which is going to do the work collect the car from there on a trailer and deliver it back when you're ready to return.

Sure beats risking having it confiscated!


I'm doing the work myself. To be honest darro I'm thinking of forgetting the whole idea, too much hassle. But I will give them another call next week.

Yes while you are waiting for a reply you have 2 options to think about and see if either are feasible:

1. Tow
or
2 Get a non UK resident with a valid licence to drive the car from the Port to your home. They would be covered on your car's Spanish insurance policy.

You are ok driving it on at the Spanish or French side but then you are stuck for taking it off.
