We travel from either Bibao or Santander with two dogs and two cats, about 8 hours using the toll roads, as we find this easy and quick which is important with animals. There are lots of stopping points,
( picnic areas ), on route, for wee stops, and very little traffic as the toll charges put a lot of people off using them. Regarding the dogs in front with you. The same laws apply to them as yourself , I.e they need to be restrained by seatbelt , or in a cage , in case of an accident. The only other thing to note is when getting near Madrid , take care in the ring road , to ensure you go the right way. We have made a slight mistake there on one occasion. Have a pleasant trip , John

Hi Danny
We made it to quesada it took 46 hours in total. We drove from teesside to Portsmouth setting off at midnight, then the overnight crossing to Bilboa the ferry was OK nice and clean but a bit rough through the bay of bistay. Once off the ferry about 12 we travelled to zaragoza new Road all the way with one toll 31 euro. Then motorway to villencia were we picked up the alicante road we only travelled on the 3 roads that took just over 9 hours with 3 short stops
Hope this helps
