Hi All,

Preparing for our permanent move to Quesada and as we will be hoping to have a car was looking to find out what insurance is like in Spain.

Would only be purchasing a small car e.g Dacia Sandero Stepway and would probably purchase from new around 12000E. I believe insurance is based on the car not the driver.

Any advice appreciated on costs to budget for.

Thanks

I've just insured a UK reg'd car and had quotes from several insurers and they were all around the same. I took out fully comprehensive and breakdown roadside cover is included as it's a legal requirement to have it in Spain. The cost was 340 Euros and we will get a payment back into our account of 50. So just under 300. I understand that when it's on Spanish plates it will be even cheaper. You're right about it being the car rather than the driver. Ours is any driver over 25. As a friend said the worry is that should your car get stolen, even the thief is covered!!!

If you buy a car from a Garage they will insure if for you so you can drive it straight away. They can often get you a good price as well.
