I have read that if your car was registered in the Valencia region you must have your ITV test in the Valencia region otherwise the Guardian Civil can fine you for not having a noise emission test which is an extra test not required anywhere else in Spain. I asked at a garage when having a service and was told it was scaremongering and not true. Does anyone know the legality behind this and can you get fined for having an ITV outside the Valencia region.

I have heared that in the past this is true but not sure realy stay in the region and you wont go wrong is my guess!

The information is correct and it's not just the Guardia the Local police will fine you as well
It's called a Sonar test and you can have it done as a separate test at any ITV station in Valencian Region it is not required in Murcia but is in some other regions
