In April we're using a company called Self Drive who are based in El Raso. They'll pick you up at the airport, take you to your car, and take you back to the airport when you've finished your stay. They worked out cheaper than DYS on this occasion!

Hi, where did you hear about this company? Good price has been quoted, just a bit wary of dealings via email.

Thanks in advance!

Have used Dave several times with no problems, what he quotes is what you pay, no excess on insurance and he is reliable . . . Extra drivers and kids Seats are free . .

Don't expect new motors, often they can border on bangers but we like it because you don't worry about parking or getting the odd ding . . .

Hmm!

Also, he just replied €120, no word on fuel?
I know I could just reply to him, but more information in the emails would encourage more business.

Hi

Did you use Dave in the end? Just looking for quotes for Aug 18 we normally use Centauro but always happy to have a cheaper alternative!
Look forward to your comments.
Thanks

i damaged a hire car we had coming out of the Habeneras car park after visiting Aiki , the guard rail had been hit and was siicking out at low level so i did not see it , i damaged the passanger side lower cill and expected the worse when returning the car, we used centauro at alicante airport.
they kept back 250 euros of my dep. for the repair, which i thought was reasonable considering the damage, although they probably wont get it repaired but thats up to them, i accepted it was my fault.
Centauro gave me all the paperwork i needed straight away for me to make a claim on my own excess ins.
which i did when i got back to the uk , and have now received payment in full from them.
I have put numerous moans on this forum about car hire rip offs, but to be fair, i thought Centauro handled the incident fairly, gave me all the paperwork i needed ,and charged me a fair price for the repair ,could have been double that price !, so will be using them again .
this also proves that getting your own hire car excess ins. works !

Her we go again !!
Just got stung by Centauro car hire who i have never had any trouble with over the last 3 yrs, and in fact thought they were very fair when i did damage one of their cars a couple of years ago.
this time they said i had damaged the LOCK !
When we picked the car up (Grey Dacia Duster ) it was covered in dents and scratches, i tried to refuse the car , but they said thats all they had ????
On returning the car. their checker almost ignored all the existing damage and went straight to the drivers door lock and tried the key which would not go into the lock,he then suggested i had damaged the lock or someone has tried to break into the car (poss but unlikely).
Iam covered by my own excess insurance so should get my money back (£250)

So beware if your hire car that has a lock on any door (alot of modern cars dont!) try the keys in them before you drive off !

hope this helps !

I had a Peugeot via Centauro a few months back and when I inspected the car noticed the drivers door lock wouldn't work with the key (only via the fob). To be fair, when I raised it, the chap there showed me it was already marked down on their inspection sheet as damaged but it seems not too uncommon that the lock is buggered so need to be vigilant (as with everything on a hire car). Last time I used Firefly I got hit with a damage fee but to be fair there was a mark on the drivers door that I had not noticed previously so the car must have been brushed whilst in my custody out somewhere.
