Hi All,

I'm looking into importing a used car from Germany to Alicante precisely Quesada.

I've done some research online and some forums, however, i'll be pleased to get a perspective from someone who has done same.
I'll like to know the process involved including registration and Taxation, pitfalls and advantages.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Zuby.

Same as registering a UK car, except you don't have to swap the headlights and potentially re-wire the rear fog light.
Contact Graham at http://spanish-number-plates.com with details of the make, model and year of the car and he'll tell you what the costs will be.

One other thing to look out for... I'm not sure what the rules are in Germany, but in Spain they're very strict about tyres. They prefer the same make and type of tyre all round, but both tyres on the same axle MUST be the same make/type or you'll fail the ITV test.

Pete.

I got mine done through my solicitor 120€ for her services plus all the rest, you could try a blog from one foot in the cave (google it)I thought that was quite good, final figure depends on efficiency and value

My son did it himself recently.
Hard work. Time consuming and little saving in the end.

I didn't save that much money to be honest. But what you will get is a nice trip to Germany and the peace of mind that the car you're buying is what it says it is. My advice will be to buy a German car from a German main dealer. If you would like a recommendation just PM me. I'd also avoid AutoScout24 and instead search on www.mobile.de
