Arriving next Wednesday afternoon in Santander ....won't be doing overnight stop ...not worried about cheapest route ...just easiest
Thanks

Steve, get the route planner off Michelin easy to follow and it will give you different routes. I personally used the Santander, Burgos, round Madrid, Albacete route , did it in 1 go with 1 stop just the other side of Madrid, took my time doing average speed of 100k per hour (60mph) took me roughly 8 and a half to 9 hours no problem.

See the Michelin route round Madrid ...just wondering if it was straightforward??
Got lost on the Paris ring road years ago ...before sat navs ...wouldn't want to repeat it in Madrid

Very easy. Just follow the R2/R3 and it's easy peasy. It's all motorway from just outside Santander all the way to Quesada and they are mostly empty except around the big towns where they get a little busier. And all free except for the ring road at Madrid which is about €2.50.
A67, A1, A31, A7. For a lot of the time you won't even see another car.

My preferred route is via Pamplona, Zaragoza, Teruel, Valencia, Alicante.
Easy and interesting drive, approx 8hours

Whichever route you choose, enjoy the trip
