Now,all we need to do is find the perfect car or buy a new one. We did the rounds in all the garages on the Avenue de Valencia and even went to a Elche in the hope that they would be cheaper but no such luck. We have narrowed it down to a couple that we liked but when you are working on a budget, you don’t really get the car you want. All the cars we looked at are not the smallest but not far off them! Not being used to driving a small car ,it worries me a little about the safety issues.
Anyway, thanks to one and all. I will update you if and when the final decision is made.

You could try Autos Direct at San Miguel English Owned and well recommended

After all the horror stories here re second hand cars and after living here for 12 years and throwing a lot of money away on used cars, i was finally in the position to buy a new car

All the main dealers have a range of cars that have been used by them to ferry workers around etc, that have a few kilometres on them and maybe up to 6 months old but are 3/4 thousand cheaper than brand new.

We found a lot of the 3/4 year old cars on the sales pitches were imports from russia and other Eastern Europe countries where there are no rules on mileages etc

We bought from nissan in the end, fab service, total confidence in the car.

Tread very carefully with private sellers...had a deal ageed recently, but day before, I emailed to remind seller to bring evidence that Suma was paid up to date, as well as log book and ITV...he threw a wobbly, put car back on sale here, and did not bother to tell me he would not be at next days meeting!
Good job I spotted the ad!
Called me a timewaster, and cost me 35 euros for cancelled insurance!
Not a Gentleman!
Going to Costa Cars tomorrow, and then Easycars...they do all paperwork and insurance, included in price, and a 1 years warranty.
Better than all the private hassle and no warranty!
Good luck...

Have you tried the guy up at the airport who was on the tv series. Frank Rocco (fwr cars) he seems fairly reputable.
