I’m still trying to get my head around this issue. Is it reasonable to expect that small van removal firms will turn up on the dates we want or do we have to fit in with their trips. E.g. If we like a quote from a company and we want to move in the second week of April but they don’t have a van in the U.K. until the fourth week would we have to wait for them. I’m finding it difficult trying to organise the move, with ferry bookings etc.
Sorry if this doesn’t make sense but I have that much going on in my head at the moment, as most of you will be aware.

Yes this is the case I had stuff i wanted to move last year. Some hauliers wanted me to give them keys to my house to put the stuff in as I wasn't there. Others dates didn't fit
I went with a company that had storage in Spain. They took it stored it in Spain for 3 wks till I was there next.

Thanks to everyone who has responded. I am compiling a comprehensive list of our stuff as we sort out. Will be able to sort something shortly.

Kevin from Silverdale Transport is excellent. He’ll tell you exactly what dates he is going and will be arriving. Really good communication and very reliable. We used him recently to bring out a couple of king size headboards, and a pile of Ikea kitchen door fronts that they don’t stock in Ikea Spain. We found him through recommendations on this Forum and highly recommend him.

I have contacted Kevin at Silverdale and have decided that he will do our move. He is very knowledgeable and accommodating and can’t wait to get started. Thanks everyone for your interest.
