What’s a reasonable length of time it takes to go through this process from start to finish. My car has had the itv and passed and four weeks later still not completed process?

Ours took ages, from pre ITV to completion was about 4 months.

Thank you, that gives me peace of mind, I thoughts it only took a couple of weeks, thought it was a bit unusual that’s all.

We were told approximately 2 weeks from ITV to getting spanish plates. It will be two weeks next wednesday will update you then!!

I'm hoping that my case was only 4 months because of a certain staffing issue (office person became out of action due to an injury) but the garage also said they have never known it to take so long.

We will be bringing our car over in May and would look at some stage to change over to Spanish Plates etc - just wondering approx costs for doing the whole thing

Mine took about 10 days including the ITV and headlight replacements. But that's because I used the services of Leigh Blann at Spanish Number Plates. I can highly recommend him. We met on 26th Feb for the ITV and the mechanical bits and I subsequently returned to the U.K leaving it all with Leigh. I have already received a copy of the new registration docs from Leigh and he will go to Ecoparking at Alicante airport on Monday to fit the new plates in my absence at no extra charge. He will send me a photo of them mounted and as soon as I have that I will finalise by phone the insurance I have lined up with Rightmove, Job done! When we next go out in April we will have a Spanish reg car. Not as cheap as doing it yourself I know, but even though I do all my taxes myself I would not even have attempted this one. I know when I’m beaten by the Spanish bureaucracy and car headlamps lol.

Best to get a quote as it depends on the car model, age and carbon emissions and price of replacement headlights if necessary. But you are looking at 1000 euros minimum in most cases.

I sent Spanish number plates 2 emails they never even replied!

Used Leigh myself , quick service and everything done without any problems would recommend to anyone.
