I'm not 100% certain, but I have been informed that in Elche, you could get a brand new Dacia from 6000Euros upwards. Maybe selling the second car in the UK and putting the money towards a new car in Spain could be an alternative for you.

we drive our car to spain, we also visit uk 2 or 3 times a year as well, and then for a 2 or 3 weeks period when mot is due, we make a holiday of it back in the uk while we get up to date again. the rest of the legal paperwork (tax, insurance, breakdown etc...) can be done any time online. car hire companies have such a bad reputation, and I keep hearing of people getting ripped off, excessive accident damage policy prices, and / or charged for damage they aren't responsible for. we need a car at either end and as we can only drive one car at a time, we take ours where ever we go. good luck in what you decide.

The right hand drive has no value once it's re-registered .It costs €1200 for a 8year old Peugeot to be re-registered.

Been thinking of buying LHD in the UK and driving to Spain and leave it parked at the airport for the same "car hire problems"
Some are advertised as Spanish registered ,would i have to register the car again once i arrive in Spain ?
The LHD cars seem to be cheaper in the UK , plenty available !

You would have to transfer ownership the same as if you bought second hand private ly in Spain.Theres a charge for it but nothing like re-registering .

If you buy a Spanish registered car in the U.K. then it’s illegal for you to drive it in the U.K. you’d have to have it transported to Spain.
There are lots of potential pitfalls in buying a Spanish registered vehicle as the transfer process can be a bit of a minefield.
I’d get the vehicle checked-out online by a Spanish solicitor before parting with any money.

This is the hurdle I found. Quite a few Spanish registered LHD cars for sale within the UK but as a UK resident I cannot drive them legally in the UK so I would have to have the car transported to at least the port. Then you have to insure the car from foreign soil immediately and the car needs an ITV to be driveable. Finally, you need to ensure the transfer process is correctly undertaken when you arrive in Spain. A lot of hoops to jump through as there seems to be in general when it comes to car purchases in Spain (or not, as the case may be).

If you want to buy a LHD car in UK then unless you know EXACTLY what you're doing better to buy anything BUT Spanish.

Thanks for the info,!!
Looks like the bast option is to buy a LHD car in the UK( they seem to be a lot cheaper than Spain) which is UK registered ,get it street legal in the UK, drive it to Spain then you have at least 6 mths to get it registered (iam not a resident just have a holiday home )which i understand will cost approx 500-1000 euros ?
As long as i get a good deal in the UK,(i know a fair amount about cars was a panel beater for 20 yrs ),it should be worth the hassle or not ??
