Car Suma

Hi
I recently sold my car and bought another from a garage, The Suma for my old car was paid until April but it was sold in February. Do I have to contact the Suma office to tell them this? I have cancelled the direct debit from the bank so it will not be paid for the next year beginning in April?
Also do I have to tell Suma about the new car or is this done automatically through the purchase from a garage
and they will contact me?
Thanks for any definitive answers.

The person who owns the car on 1st jan is responsible for suma payment for that year even though its taken in may-ish and you might have sold it on 2nd jan . . So you may well be in trouble/fined if you dont pay it. The same applies to the new one you bought the old owner is responsible for this year . . Unless its brand new in which case you paid it as part of purchase price.

You must pay it this year as it was sold after 1st Jan, keep the sale contract then if you get a bill next year just take the contract in and they will sort it.
