Never had any hassle and after three bookings you get automatic enrolment in their Gold member scheme which means you can collect the car keys direct from the car park office, by passing the queues at their downstairs office at Alicante airport.
Last time over the car had the misfortune of having a window broken. Centauro replaced the car that day and although I had to pay their excess, hadn't taken out their extra insurance, there were no problems getting the information report from them that I needed to make a claim against my own hire car insurance that I'd taken out for the year.
As I say, using them again this time, and I've even emailed them and had a response, that the particular type of car that I want will be available and not the "or similar" option.

Hi Jon,

How did you get on with the hire car excess insurance? Did they pay out without any problems?

Fortunately we haven't had to use it so far but we have taken it out each year and it would be interesting to know if it works well.

Incident happened on 10th June, I submitted claim form and what I thought was all the paperwork on 13th. I heard nothing and emailed them to chase it up. They said they'd emailed me earlier to say there was a report from Centauro missing. I still say I never got this email, however I emailed Centauro and they sent me the report, well invoice really for the excess they'd charged me, I forwarded this to the claim company and I saw the money went in my account on 10th July. Quite quick really, if you have all the correct paperwork. However if I hadn't contacted them to chase it up I think I would still be waiting.

Thanks - Sounds like it works!

Don't want to have to use it but it's a safety net worth having.

hi there folks....My name is Allan Scott and i`m new to your forum, I will be coming to Quesada in a few weeks time on holiday, the thorny subject of " car hire " is doing my head in.
I can hire a car from Budget for £257.00 for two weeks but is it necessary for the excess charge of £74....I pick up the car with a full tank and return it with a full tank....are there any issues that I need to be aware of ?....or, I can get picked up from the airport and try to get about on local buses......any advice ?

There are also several excellent local car hire firms that offer super service, no queues at the airport and good value with no hidden extras. We use http://www.aeroautos.es/eng/index.php but there are others that have been recommended on this forum.

I have used the company below if you do a search for cars on the site it will tell you if they have cars on site at the airport etc I have usually opted for Centuro at the airport they offer second driver free and have been rated as top by Which! I actually hired a car out of season for 10 days and it cost £50.00

www.economycarhire.com

Hope this helps

Dot wrote:Hi, last month we hired a goldcar when we were handed the key it was all taped up the girl at the desk just laughed when we pointed it out, the car was in a terrible state all scratched and dented again we pointed this out and took photographs, yesterday our card bill came in with an extra 115 euros taken for the broken key, we have emailed them to say the key was in that state when we got it........will keep you posted as to what happens but beware!!!!!
". We used to use goldcar but were caught out several times on different things we complained but never ever got any satisfaction I think they just rely on you giving up with your complaint and they never replied to any emails still owed at least 300 euro and that was 3 years ago. Good luck with the broken key
