I had a parking fine in Torrevieja (ironic considering the number of cars double parked, parked on zebra crossings etc, perhaps I should have left my four way flashers on) and they wouldn't let me pay it at Correos in Quesada. Those were the three options they gave me for paying it.

Why drive when flights are so cheap ?

If you´re going back for 8-10 weeks, you need a car and hiring one in peak season for that length of time is prohibitive.

Plus the fact, a plane isn´t that good for sightseeing.

The other option is to buy a cheap runabout here to use when you're in Spain.

I’m not wanting to come across as a “ told you so”, but you only get tickets for speeding ,if you are actually speeding. The moral to this is don’t speed! Because as every motorist knows speed kills, no matter what country you are in or highway you are travelling along.

Perhaps parking fines have different payment criteria to speeding fines Marcliff.

To everyone complaining about speeding fines and parking fines, do not break the speed limit or park illegally, then you will have no problem. I bet you are the ones who complain about Spanish drivers too.

On the spot fines I think also apply to hire cars.

Non residents have to pay the Guardia Civil on the spot. Residents have various payment options, including Correos at no extra charge.
