you are supposed to tell the truth to insurance companies otherwise they cay refuse to cover you if you have a claim , it does ask on the application form if you have any claims

It normally will mean your premium will go up, the normal phrase in insurance is it is a no claim bonus not a no blame bonus! You must tell them as if you don’t and you had a claim they could say it was a non disclosure and not pay out for your claim and void the policy.

Lockey57, OK thanks for that but I am an honest person and would always tell them, but thanks for advising me anyway.

Lockey57, Do I need to tell the new insurers if the Consortium cover the costs as this is because of a National Disaster and the insurance will not be paying out anything. Just a thought,

It is best to tell them, even if the consortium does pay for it you have indicated that you wanted to claim of your insurance and to an insurance company that is potentially a claim that could have been met if someone else did not pay. The best thing is to tell them everything and let them decide if there should be an additional premium.
