Any advice on buying a new car in Spain?

:text-thankyouyellow:
Hi, I am going to be moving permanently to the Quesada area in January and will be looking to purchase a Spanish registered vehicle as I am selling my one in the UK. I get the impression from various sources that buying new is a better option than buying second hand.

Any advice regarding type (ford/kia etc), order process including duration would be greatly appreciated.

I am over early November and could start order process then if need be.

THANKS

Obviously depends on preferences but some friends have bought KIA and got a good deal on ex demo and purchased a 7 year maintenance package to go with the warranty so in theory no bills for 7 years except tyres, may be worth looking at.

we bought a new Ford Fiesta last year from a main dealer (fabulous car, 6 week wait). Got a better deal from the one in San Miguel than from the ones in Rojales and Torrevieja, so shop around even after you've decided which make/model you want.

We can recommend Rubio Mar in Torrevieja. We have bought two new Skoda Octavias in the last four years excellent service from Victor. After sales and servicing are also very good.

Cars in Spain, when new, are about the same as UK. They lose a lot in the first 3 years or so and a 3 or 4 year old car is quite reasonably priced. It's older than that when the prices are high compared to UK (but not the rest of Europe). Good when you're selling, not so good when you're buying.
Buying new then the advice is shop around. We went to about 5 dealers (knowing the type we wanted but were flexible on the make). Got a pretty good deal on a new one (about 2 thousand less than UK but, of course, I'd probably have been able to get that off in UK as well as a cash buyer). The one good thing I got was free servicing (parts and labour) for 5 years.
There are a fair few dealers in Torrevieja near the Iceland supermarket, all vying for sales. Also a lot in Elche on the main N340 going from Crevillente to the Carrefour area.
If you decide on a slightly older one, I can thoroughly recommend Goldcar sales in Torrevieja. Most cars are 3 to 4 yeas old and a lot cheaper than other dealers around. We bought a Ford Focus, 3 years old with 32,000km on the clock, for 7100 euro and sold it 2 years later in part ex for 7000.
Goldcar are also good as they do all the paperwork for you, include the registration fee in the price, ITV the vehicle (whether required or not) and give 12 months warranty plus return within 30 days (up to 1000km) and get your money back if not happy.(less registration fee).
