car prices

Thinking of buying a car and wanting a bit of help.

Some adverts show 2 prices - financed price and spot price. Cant really work out what that means. Is the "financed price" the price you pay if you self finance or if you obtain finance through the garage? Financed price is usually lower than spot price.

Secondly are Spanish warranties truthful or are there lots of half truths and many pitfalls?

Thanks.

I bought a car a few weeks ago from a dealer, which was €1500 cheaper on finance. The dealers get good deals off finance companies, so offer cars cheaper to intice buyers to take out the finance. I would have paid €800 more than the cash price if I had taken the finance.

He means if bought on finance the end cost was 800 more than the cash price due to the interest payable

Thanks JPEG.

So it looks like the cheapest buying price is if bought with Garage finance, but the final cost will be dearer after interest charges are taken into account.

They are likely to also throw in freebies, like extended warranties, free servicing for x years, first year's insurance - so you need to work out if they are worth the extra interest. Most likely they will make it worth your while to take the minimum finance.

We bought a new car recently. It was cheaper with finance plus we got extra Warranty & free servicing for a couple of years. This was from Renault. Must say their service was very professional.

I've just ordered a new Sandero Stepway automatic. The best deal was to take part finance of €4000 and pay the rest in cash. That way I got the finance price with 3 years free servicing and a years free insurance so it works out slightly cheaper than the cash price. That was with Dacia/Renault in Torrevieja.
