I book through "doyouspain" but I check the comparison details very carefully. Cars with Full to full fuel are more expensive than full to empty because they cannot charge the refuel costs. Just do your sums carefully and you can work out the cost accurately before you go.

As for additional insurance think carefully. If you take it out at the hire place you have no excess held on your credit card. If not, they will take a deposit on your card, and you have a little bump, they will hold your deposit until the repair is done at the price they want to charge, and you get the balance returned.

If you have your own insurance, some hire companies will NOT accept it, and will still take a deposit on your card. Any repairs will be taken from your deposit which you then have to reclaim from your insurers. This could take weeks at best to sort.

Just read the small print, make your calculations, and you won't have any surprises. Remember, all car hire businesses are in business for their benefit, not yours!

I use doyouspain, always have and they are definitely the cheapest around. Insurance and fuel is always an issue with any company and I would avoid Goldcar because they have just introduced some strange rules like €2 extra per day if it's a diesel and the fuel refund is always 1/4 tank lower than the car has. All very strange and expensive. But there's lots if companies quoted on doyouspain, so just use the one that suits you best. It really is the cheapest price, without doubt.
