Do you automatically get removed from the Padron if you don't renew ? or can I remove myself online.

Issue is I can't drive on a uk licence whilst on holiday as I'm on the Padron as been told. My car is parked at airport thus might get stopped on route to holiday home, don't want to risk a fine or impounding of car. Im only on the Padron 6 years ago and have never asked for renewal since the garage insisted they had a copy to buy the car.

Cheers

You've been misinformed.

True as a non resident you have no business being on a padron but that of itself does not preclude you from driving with your UK licence.

If stopped production of your passport with its entry stamp, along with proof of your return flights, should be enough to demonstrate that you are a visitor.

Technically if not renewed a padron expires after 5 years but there is no guarantee that your town hall will have followed through with that and taken you off it so the only way to know for certain is to ask at your town hall.

Unfortunately many are operating an appointment system with delays of weeks or months.

For the future you can get a certificate of non residency but others will have to advise on procuring that.

For the benefit of others, and for the umpteenth time, whatever a garage says you absolutely DO NOT need a padron to buy a car, verifiable proof of a Spanish address is what's required and that can be by a rental contract or property deeds supported by a recent utility bill.

It they won't play ball the walk away and buy elsewhere.

You should have been removed after 2 years if you didn't show a residency card. Always best to go and ask at the town hall, though.

No delays at Rojales or the Quesada municipal town hall.

Was it not 5 years prior to the WA?

Yes, 5 years for EU residents, 2 years for non EU so I'm told.
However, I went to the town hall and they said it is still 5 years for us even though we are no longer in the EU but have permanent resident cards.
