Me again. Anyone know what the score is with petrol/diesel cars being shut down. I know the aim in the UK was to get everyone to get rid, but it’s now been extended. Whats the score over here please? Are you safe with a hybrid for example?

It was intended to stop producing Petrol and Diesel vehicles in 2030 but I believe that has now been extended

The sheer logistics of It means it will be decades before petrol and diesel cars are actually banned from the roads anywhere.

2050 would be my guess.

There is no plan to "ban" petrol or diesel cars from anywhere (yet), just to stop producing them. Was 2030 but the EU extended that to 2035 and UK has followed suit.

That's nonsense. Existing cars cannot be banned period.

The EU regulation only states that production and sale of NEW petrol and diesel cars will be forbidden by 2035. And since this is over 10 years into the future it should be regarded for what it is: science fiction. Many things can happen in politics in 10 years and this whole hysteria should certainly not influence your car buying decision today.
