A totally different scenario but also a misrepresentation as only fully legally tax residents can acquire a Spanish licence and being illegally on a padron does no count as that.

A fine levied in that circumstance will have been for being on a padron not having a UK licence.

Signing on a padron is a legally binding declaration that you reside in Spain which of course they did not.

I don’t drink either but I regularly frequent bars and restaurants. There was absolutely nothing sarcastic in Marcliff’s response to your original post.

I take all your points Marcliff, and they seem to make good sense, but your responses seem to be “correcting” me personally and your good self stating to me what the real facts actually are. My post was not stating anything, it was only relating the true experiences of a friend when he tried to change his car insurance with other Spanish companies and I was asking if anybody else had had similar experiences. My post never intended to be an update or announcement of changes to Spanish insurance law, I was not professing to
be a “know all” of insurance matters. I thought his experience may be a topic of interest to the forum, nothing more, nothing less.
