Singers needed for established singing group
Posted: Sat Oct 29, 2016 12:14 pmWe are looking to reinforce our numbers in DAYAMANTES SINGERS. A little history about our group; we were formed in 2005 and I assumed the role of Musical Director in 2009. Since then we have gone from strength to strength, and we have all improved.
Our repertoire spans the decades and songs are chosen that we can arrange for a group. Abilities in the group vary, so that rigid voice parts are not always adhered to. We do not use backing tracks because often the key of pop songs does not always suit our senior voices. Instead I accompany the group on guitar, Depending on the venue we may use a PA, but also we will sing without.
Some of the artiste's song we cover include: Boney M, The Seekers, Katie Meluah, Mamas & Papas, Simon & Garfunkel, Amy Winehouse, David Bowie, Snow Patrol, Beach Boys, Adele, Tom Jones, Take That, Credence Clearwater Revival, Carole King, Abba, 10cc, Queen and more.
To these we add some Spanish language songs, which we learn phonetically (We are living in Spain), because one of the places we sing is a retirement home. To see the faces of often wheelchair ridden people there is a joy to see. They join in with us and have a good time.
Christmas time will find us singing Christmas songs and carols.
In some choirs and singing groups you have to learn your part from a CD, and it is a very big commitment to make. Our more laid back approach, makes for a more relaxed atmosphere and enjoyment we think.
