Cycling about town

Hi
Could anyone tell me, if it is illegal to cycle on a foot path and would a fine be imposed ? How keen are the local garda ??

why for heavens sake would you want to cycle on a footpath for pedestrians__??

I don't know the rules but I don't like cycling on the roads but luckily there are some great cycle lanes around. I have cycled into Torrevieja using mostly the cycle lane's and the old railway line route. I think our area of Spain has some brilliant cycle routes.

Thanks for that Jan, yes the cycle paths are really good and I have heard of the old railway tracks, I am going to pop into the bike shop as I have heard they sell a book of trails and routes !
Not about to mow down pedestrians , sometimes ( as in England) you may occasionally have to mount the pavement.

You may only ride a bicycle on paths that do not have a large pedestrian presence, on paths at least 3 metres wide provided there are no signs prohibiting cycling, there is no separate lane for cyclists and the distance to pedestrians is at least one meter.

There is a pavement like this just outside Montesinos. When we cycle there we use this pavement to get into the town.
