Does it feel really close and hot at the moment?
Does it feel really close and hot at the moment?

Yes, I know it's August. Yes, I know it's Spain. But does anyone else feel it is really close and hot at the moment? Is Spain turning tropical? The temperature gauge doesn't seem to be any higher than in other years but the humidity appears way up. We very rarely use the aircon but, this year, we have had to use it in the house from about 9pm as it becomes very uncomfortable. This has the knock on effect of the upstairs becoming like an oven so the aircon goes on up there as well. Even though we have mosquito screens and normally get by with the window open in the bedroom, this year the aircon goes on most of the night.
I'll probably find the electricity bill has gone rocketing this year but it really is uncomfortable at the moment, much more so than in previous years.

Well we were over in July and said the same thing, have spent time there July and August at intervals over ten years, but it felt unbearable and had no air con! But then we never had any before and always got by with a fan, we actually had the ceiling fan on and a standing one all night, as well as having bedroom window open, phew !

Hi,
When we left Spain to go home in mid-July we noticed the same thing - As blackvelvet says, much more humid than other years. I remember saying that I dreaded to think what August was going to be like.
In fact we returned to the UK in a heatwave and it was much the same as Spain for a few weeks but normally the heat in Spain is more bearable than a heatwave in the UK due to the dryness of the heat.
We have been to Spain in August and still managed without air-con and just with the windows open at night but sounds like we would struggle at the moment.
Hope it gets back to normal Spanish Summer heat soon for you.
Jan.

Yep it defiantly is different but it has been changing as the weather has over the past few years Feb 4 years ago went out at 6.00 and wondered why so much dirt on the windscreen! it was ice1 and a lady told me it was the first time in 15 years her dogs bowl had frozen, two years ago we had to put heating on at the beginning of October but last year not until November and now lots of cloud apparently due to the recent hurricane, definitely climate change. but still love it lets make Hay when the sun comes out again!!

The good thing about the heat is you don't wear as many clothes so less washing.
