I just could not cope with the high temperatures in Spain in the summer months at all, so I don't envy you guys out there. Hence I spend time there between October and the end of May. Hopefully I don't sound too smug by saying I think I have the best of both worlds.

Hmm. Just read that after reading about the forecast storms and winds for UK coming up.

We've spent a very pleasant morning lying round on Santiago de la Ribera beach and dipping into the Mar Menor.
Early lunch across the road at a lovely restaurant where we shared a plate of garlic shrimps and baked mushrooms followed by red snapper for me and a Hunter's chicken for my wife along with a lovely salad and patatas bravas.
Washed down with a glass of ice cold white wine for my wife and a cold coca cola (perils of having to drive) for me.
All followed by lemon drizzled crepes with whipped cream. A steal at €32 for the two of us.

Then back on the beach and a lazy paddle in the Mar Menor (waving at the people on board the ferry of to La Manga) for an hour before coming home on fairly empty roads and the motorway.

Sorry, what does the word "smug" mean?

I’m not a smug person by nature but right now I’m finding it difficult not to be. Life here is just perfect, love it!

Who was it said "if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen"

Seems appropriate!

If there are any further weather warnings for this area in future I think I will keep them to myself.

Fry, freeze or get hit by lightning and flooded out. I'll be doing something more useful like sorting out my sock drawer.

Marcliff, I wasn't having a go at your weather warning, it's welcome information for many people, it would be for me if I was over there. I was commenting on SuzyHarrys "shouting" comment. I know that life in Spain is overall better than in the UK, and I can imagine a lovely day spent by the Mar Menor, one of my favourite places. But I also know I can't cope with the heat of summer as I can't breathe. To me summer in the UK and winter in Spain is perfect but I realise it's each to their own.

Oh and I definitely get out of the kitchen when it gets too hot
