Long may that continue too...We need time to get our garden in shape before Winter when we get back to England!

When I got off the plane, two days ago, the temp was around 18 - but there were puddles of water on the ground! Hadn't seen that for over a month - and a big overnight thunderstorm. Must be because of the drop in temp - but I have the central heating (no, not aircon!! ) on at the moment!!

Bet you can sleep at night though - It was sweltering last night - seemed even hotter than the night before! The local radio said this morning, that last Tuesday in the very early hours of the morning was 22C and apparently the hottest night for something like 40+ years!
I love warm weather but particularly like Autumn and Spring in Spain for the nights as they are comfortable for sleeping....usually!!

Guapa wrote:Don't you have aircon Jan? We have it in the downstairs very open plan area but never bother with it as we also have ceiling fans in each area & were always sitting outside. We couldn't cope with this heat overnight though so use it set at 25°C in bedroom.
No, no aircon. We have never really needed it. We have been using our fans a bit though this time (Sept/Oct) but I don't think we used them once in the Summer this year - it seems hotter now! (We didn't come in August though!) We have had experience of air-conditioning on holidays in other places and personally I think that getting used to air-con makes it appear hotter when it's turned off and when going outside but I may change my mind if we lived here!

If I can't sleep comfortably at night I'm no good for nothing during the day. It's just pleasant outside now but the inside is much hotter. As children living in Cyprus my sister & I slept outside on the verandah in the mid summer.
It's cooled down a bit today - No need for air-con now as the breeze is coming through the windows and if it stays like this (about 24C) it will be back to normal October nights here for sleeping!
Not complaining really as we will be back to central heating and duvets as soon as we go home to England !

This must be still one of the warmest & driest October's on the Costa Blanca! It's been lovely - We have had wall to wall sunshine since arriving in Spain almost month ago and the temperatures have only dropped slightly in the evenings and we haven't seen any rain (although we heard that there was some rain during one night). It must have been at least 30C in the sun again yesterday and looks set to continue.
We hear the UK are having a cold & wet October apparently, not looking forward to going home and wearing winter clothes again!!

So pleased there hasn't been and won't be a Gota Fria this month Mike!
In the eight years we've been coming here, more often than not there has been a Gota Fria sometime in early October.
Cloudless blue sky today again and feels warmer than 26C in the sun!

Hello Dot,
You are lucky! We came back to England a few days ago and it has been constant rain and the forecast is for a month of rain. We have to try to find a dry day to cut the lawn and get the garden in shape before the 'real' winter weather sets in, but don't hold out much hope in the next few weeks.
We were in Quesada for 4 weeks and the weather was incredible. October is usually still warm each time we are there but we have never had such a lovely October as this one, with no rain at all! Generally there are a few days of rain and cloud (and/or a Gota Fria!) which cools the temperature down a bit, but not this time.
Wish we were still there for that sunshine!
Jan.
