THE DIRTY SAHARA RAIN
THE DIRTY SAHARA RAIN
by JOHNNOBEV » Fri Nov 06, 2020 1:06 pm
So we had some more dirty rain.
It seems that the folk of Quesada want to drain the Pedrera reservoir and leave us with no water.
Houses, patios, any paved areas, footpaths and even cars and vans, etc.
I was under the impression that most of these activities are against the law?

Not as far as I know there not. However washing your car in the street is I take mine to the car wash where the water is recycled. Since when have you not been allowed to wash your patios etc we use the minimal amount of water needed. So are you saying you do not clean up after Sahara rain? I’m not being funny just interested.

When dry, most of the sand can be brushed away.

You are not allowed to let your washing down water run out into the street, a neighbour of mine who lived near the La Marquesa golf course was warned by the Policia Local that he would receive a 600 euro fine if he was caught washing down again. The residue from Sahara rain is just as easy to brush up when dry anyway.

Elchdave I understand about no water going into the street which of course I do not do, anyway it’s mostly mopping but just brushing doesn’t work on mine especially the white balustrades! My white car this morning was brown so car wash for a 1€ spray, job done now I can see out of the windows.

What about the drains what are in the kerbs from the solarium & back patio, you can't stop water going down them when you wash them down & their discharged onto the road

I normally mop it's tough because it's a large area and im forever getting another bucket of water because 3 swipes of the mop and the waters like mud. Is there a hoover type thing I can get that sucks up water? We have a couple of areas where the water doesn't drain away just leaves a big puddle and it takes ages mopping it up

Spent yesterday mopping and cleaning, only to find it had all settled again overnight. Feel sorry for all the folk queuing at the car wash yesterday. Ah well at least it takes my mind off Corona, Burger King, Tescos and The USA. Stay safe everyone.

Chrisdee.
I don’t know if there is a machine available but you should invest in a heavy duty floor blade. Once you’ve washed the tiles, you pull the blade towards the drain. Your floor is bone dry almost immediately.
You can buy them in any good Brico.
I buy most of my diy things in the Brico off the Avenue de Valencia, turning right on your way to Habaneras or the busy N332.
It’s cheaper than lots of other shops and they offer great help and advice. We bought a bag of large white stones in the Chinese bazaar costing €6.50 and couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw them in our Brico for €4.95 so bought 2 more bags!
Anyway, I was looking at their robust outdoor brushes, there’s a variety . You can get a brush with a blade but I think a blade on its own is ideal.
NB. Don’t buy a cheap one in the Chinese shop , buy a top quality one that will last you for years.

We have one of those squeegee things, like a long strip of rubber on a broom handle but one half of the garden is tiled and its huge and that don't seem to work too well, we thought something like a wet n dry hoover but more just for wet so we could suck it up . Must admit think our squeegee needs replacing, it's a bit old now
