Time to Break out the Woollies?
Time to Break out the Woollies?
by marcliff » Thu Oct 25, 2018 11:10 am
OK, the weather forecast for this region hasn't been very accurate of late. The so-called Gota Fria last week missed up although the north and east of us took a bit of a pasting.
This weekend (Sat/Sun) the clocks go back (don't forget) and this is forecast to coincide with a sudden drop in the temperatures.
Snow and ice are forecast for the very north, mountainous areas with temperatures dropping all over due to cold winds from the north. We have lovely weather here at the moment which should continue until Saturday. Sunday morning, though, and it is forecast to drop below 10C with maximum temperatures getting up to only 15C in the day.
All next week, albeit nice and sunny, is forecast to average around 17C during the day.
Maybe break out the quilt for the bed and see if the winter woollies have survived in the drawers for the last 6 months or so.

I knew yesterday was the wrong day to start wearing shorts.
Seems like UK is getting our weather and we are getting theirs at the moment.

I looked up in the supermarket earlier to see a headline of "25 degrees Sunday" to then realise it was an English paper. Something very wrong there..

Not at the moment!
Whilst heavy rain in Spain, at the same time in UK its 23 to 25C and is set to go as high as 27/28 all over the Easter and set to last into middle of next week at least.
The consolation for those in Spain is that sunshine will return and stay - Can't say that about the UK.

You have to feel somewhat sorry for those who booked holidays here, maybe six months ago, and find that it’s sunnier and warmer where they came from

You have to remember that those of us that are in the UK at the moment can't actually believe that it's as hot and sunny as it is, and expect it to be raining any second, so we take a coat 'just in case'.
Thousands of people are heading for the coast, but spending most of their day in traffic jams, and when they get there they won't believe that it's actually sunny enough to get burned, and will spend the next few days in agony because they didn't use sun cream.
I remember when I was young we spent a very nice hot and sunny weekend in Buxton at the end of May, then the following weekend Buxton was cut-off because there was so much snow!
As Jan said, at least you have the consolation of knowing that the weather in Spain will be getting warmer and staying that way, whereas in the UK it's a bit of a lottery.
But, as they say, 'make hay while the sun shines' so I'm currently sitting in the back garden in London having a nice cold beer. Cheers!
Pete.
