I heard about those storm warnings, but I will have my fingers crossed that they have passed us by! ;) The only thing that I don't like is that fact that it started to get dark just before 5pm tonight!! Whoever had that bright idea about altering the clocks????

The storms/hurricane are still forecast to hit us (in the South of England) tonight in the early hours and continue until around 9 to 10 am in the morning. I just moved my daughters car nearer the front of the drive away from any debris that could fall from the roof, as they are telling us to be prepared - Our car is in the garage and I've been securing pot plants & ornaments in the garden today.
We've been told that the trains from us to central London have already been cancelled for the morning ( any excuse eh!!) and we are being warned to stay off the roads.

In 1987 we awoke to fallen trees across our front door and trees across the road. I watched my husband, who would never take a day off work, climb across the tree in his suit and then negotiate another tree across the road on his way to the local station to get the train to London - surprise, surprise, no trains could get through due to trees on the tracks (well it beat leaves!) ....but we never heard a thing in the night!
:o
Well we will see what happens tomorrow. Hope it does pass us by!

Yes weather warnings for us here in the Midlands too.
Like yourselves we have packed away as many things as we can
It's all a bit scary. I just hope and pray that no one is hurt.
They say it will all kick off about 1 am and continue through rush hour.

I guess that I spoke too soon in my earlier post!! Just watching the listed tree (the one that is over 50' high and with shallow roots - and at the end of my garden!!!) sway in the wind ...... and keeping my fingers well and truly crossed!! There has been a bit of "redistribution" of garden furniture, but no damage!

In the last big storm (1987) many trees in this area came down - but haven't heard of any so far.

The trains have been disrupted in this area (Essex), but luckily, along my stretch of the coast, there are no reports of flooding.
