Postby JustGinger » Thu Jul 22, 2021 11:17 am

Hi All

For the benefit of my liver function has anyone found anywhere selling alcohol free wine or prosecco?

I can get Belle & Co alcohol free prosecco on most supermarkets in the UK. Is therr anything similar available here?

Thanks

There is alcohol free wine available in most supermarkets. It's called grape juice and is generally where the other fruit juices are. Some are in wine bottle type containers. The red in Consum is very nice if you add soda but the white is quite sweet if you like that sort of thing.

Haven't seen any alcohol free Cava (Prosecco being Italian) but Lidl and Aldi have several types that are 5% alcohol and one in Lidl with 2% alcohol and all under €2 a bottle.

Tesco and Iceland do several brands of alcohol free wines such as Elderflower, Apple and Shloer brands but are rather more expensive that the stuff you get in the Spanish supermarkets.

Also a fair few alcohol free gins in a lot of the stores (not seen alcohol free vodka, though).

You'll see several brands next to each other. One is elderflower and mint (my wife reckons that's the best but not a minty taste, she says) and some in different colours (there's a blue one, a yellow one, a strawberry coloured on and others - that's the wine colour, not the bottle colour). I think they are all 5 or 6% alcohol, though, and the 2% one is a plain glass one.

The ones in Tesco and Iceland are sparkling but are 3 euro a more a bottle. The 5% in Lidl and Aldi are about 1.68. The red and white wine grape juice in Consum is under a euro a bottle.

If you want completely alcohol free Carrefour have 1 white and 1 red . The white really does taste like a decent bottle of wine and is 7:40 a bottle , Natura or something similar . Have not tried the red . There are also many available on line but 7:40 ish seems to be the least expensive .

Thanks. I found the alcohol free sparkling in Mercadona. It's very similar to the stuff I drink in the UK. Doesn't really taste like wine, but a reasonable substitute and certainly better for my liver!
