Humax TV type recorder

Humax TV type recorder

Postby Gladys Street » Sat Feb 12, 2022 2:13 pm

Hi
Any recommendations for a humax type tv recorder box. Need to connect it between the community satellite programmes to my house and the TV set.
Thank you

I think it would depend on what type of system your community provides. If just a feed with only a certain amount of channels (like ours is) then a Humax box would be a waste as you can't actually add channels. Sort of a closed circuit type system. Ours comes through the normal aerial socket and does not have a satellite connector.

If you are each provided with a direct satellite feed then yes, a satellite decoder like Humax would be fine.

If you can't actually add channels then a Humax would be an expensive way of doing it. Just a HD drive or a USB stick in your TV would allow you to record.

I think there are about 20 channels on our system, 14 English, a couple of Russian, German or Scandinavian channels which are fixed. We ended up getting our dish with feeds to access all of Freesat and have a recording facility.

Perhaps take some advice from someone on your community. Humax no longer make Freesat receivers but they are available on Amazon.es although they are pricey.

Thank you Marcliff. Very sound advice. I have a similar number of channels. I mostly watch ITV and BBC or occasionally 4 or 5. I just wanted to record the occasional programme. I appreciate you taking time to respond and I will follow up your suggestions. Gladys
