I looked at them last week, but at 4 euro a kg i looked away quick when Spanish ones are less than half that.

The answer to your complaint regarding the price is in the name (Jersey)! That's why they are expensive, did you think they came to Spain without requiring any transport?

Virtually all Jersey Royals go to the UK. Over 90% of those grown end up in UK and it is very difficult to find them here.
There used to be a lady at Lemon Tree market that sold them when in season along with King Edwards and Maris Pipers. Now the only place I've seen them are at the stall outside Reeve's.
Never seen them in Iceland. Charlotte potatoes, baby potatoes, new potatoes and so on but not Jersey Royals unless they had a batch in and I missed them.
Spanish "new" potatoes are not like the ones we call new potatoes. Totally different taste and texture.
TBF, the only "types" of potatoes I've seen here in Spanish supermarkets are salad garnish (guarnacion) in small packs or 3Kg and 5Kg which are sometimes labelled for frying or "new".
If you do find Jersey Royals at reasonable prices, please let us know.

Which Iceland was that, Chrisdee? We went to the one in San Fulgencio yesterday and they certainly didn't have them in. If they've just got them in today I'm not making another trip just for them but will be in Torrevieja tomorrow so I'll look in there.
