Oatmeal

Oatmeal

Postby Reider » Sun Feb 27, 2022 9:06 am

Morning all,

Anyone know where I can buy proper oatmeal, not rolled oats or porridge oats. I love everything about the Spanish Food and drink, but just now and again you get a craving for something from home. With me its proper porridge, brose, skirlie and home made white puddings.

Thanks
Reider

Do they have haggis hunts here where they go into the hills to shoot them?
And watch out for that bloke with the bowl of batter in his hands, he's after your Mars bars.

(For those of you unfamiliar with Scottish cuisine, "supper" means anything with chips).

Spot on Marcliff I'm a proud Scot but admit I've not had deep fried Mars bar nor deep fried Pizza. Buy you can't beat eating a haggis supper out of newspaper on the way home from the pub.
BTW did you know a haggis has one leg longer than the other? This has evolved so it can run round the side of the hill and avoid the guns in the haggis shooting season.

Thanks for the replies, I'll go to Consum in Benijofar, its only 5 minutes walk.

Marcliff and Ron I'm not sure about battered mars bars, I think its a myth, I don't know anyone who has had one. But battered pizza (pizza crunch) delicious. But haggis, battered or not is delicious, Also macaroni pie in batter. Heaven

Ah yes! Reider The macaroni pie I agree it's delicious! Did you know Hamiltons bakery in Benijofer do a proper Scotch pie? Theirs has 50/50 lamb and meat for the filling but still the traditional pie case. Great with brown sauce lol
