Repair rattan outside furniture

can anybody help? We have a beautiful rattan three seater sofa bought in Marbella area approx., 7 years ago, we moved with it to Torrevieja and has been in more sunlight which has cracked the rattan right across the back top edge, it looks almost like it’s been cut but the strands have cracked in the sun. I need to buy something to bind it together again, at the moment it’s held together with cable ties but it looks unsightly and sharp edges. Can anyone help with ideas of what I can use to pull it together, can I buy some rattan style strapping anywhere?

The exact same thing happened to ours and was only 7 months old, they couldn't replace it till the Feb which was 3 months away so we taped right across the back of it and lasted till New one arrived, the new one we just taped it straight away doest look great but don't notice it really with the cushions on it so far so good although the table went long time ago.

Hi, it’s very annoying isn’t it? I just hope I can find suitable “something “ to repair ours there is nothing wrong with the rest of sofa or chairs!

I seen such a repair done on The Repair Shop programme - needed an expert though!
