That will not hold up wallpaper very well...and even if it does, who would chance using that when wallpaper paste is strong and cheap to buy?!

It's probably obvious but have you tried the local Ferreteria stores? - The one near Consum in Dona Pepa (Cadena88) will often order items in for you if they don't have it in stock.

Jan my mother always used Flour and Water paste when she papered the walls in our house and the last time I saw the house some of the paper is still on the walls and she died 35 years ago

I know they used it years ago (I think my gran did!) but the packs of wallpaper paste these days are so easy to get to the right mix for whatever weight of paper plus on the packets they generally say 'Anti-mould' and I wonder whether the old flour and water paste may have a tendency to go mouldy and smell a bit after a while (especially in the Spanish houses with their fluctuations of extreme temperatures which can cause condensation dampness).

Got some recently from the ferreteria near Consum in Doña Pepa as Jan said. In Spanish it is called cola.
