Thanks for that Terry. I've been buying mine from Amazon as I couldn't find anywhere locally that did wild bird food. I'll give them a try.

Go into any village pet store, there are two here in Los montesinos. Wild bird food costs about a euro for a kilo

Take care with this. A new neighbour has been feeding the birds and all the existing neighbours have had to ask him to stop as it has caused a rat problem.

As an experienced bird feeder I know what to do. All feeders are suspend high up and only suitable for small birds to get to. Droppings don't often happen but there's always a few around here deposited from the air.

Thanks all.

My feeders are the same, it's ground feeders that cause rats.

Also I don't buy the ready done packets of bird seed, as this gives rise to weeds. I make my own using sunflower hearts and chopped peanuts. But the things the birds in my garden love are the fat balls and suet blocks.
