Wood / kindling for firepit

Wood / kindling for firepit

Is Leña Bernabe Perez in Los Perez still a good place for "chunk wood"?

Haven't been before...what's the procedure for buying - and are the prices good?

Thanks!

Excellent wood. Service.

As you drive in you will see a hut straight ahead with a weighing ramp, drive up and wait, she will indicate once she has registered you.
The wood is either pine, lemon, olive etc all in different heaps and priced accordingly - but you have to ask her the price of each heap per kilo, she has some English.
We got pine which is cheaper but also it comes in large wide chunks and hubby axes it in half as required.

Just fill up you boot and then drive back to ramp, once weighed drive around and pop over to pay her.

Get it soon as it’s lovely and dry, we have about 2 yrs supply now.

Cheers

Kindling

We purchase pallets from Chinese shop, cut them down and use for kindling. Cheaper than buying the bags - as we have found in the past some of the kindling has either paint or varnish on.

If using Pine it will leave sticky tar deposits in the flue and will need to be cleaned by a professional chimney sweep also it burs far to fast so just wating money better to get Olive or Oak

Thank you all. I probably only need a couple of buckets or boxes full. Sounds like olive or oak is the way to go!

Our pine is 2 yrs old, no bark on it and no evidence of sticky glue as you mentioned. Yes it burns faster but ideal to get fire going quickly. We also have lemon, again dry and no bark.
Use use the eco logs from Leroy Merlin but bought ours from Amazon a crate after Leroy stored their outside and sone were damp, always a nice selection of wood.
Chimney gets cleaned every spring regardless to ensure everything is working. We don’t use log fire regularly as we have central heating.
Thank you
