Changing driving licence from uk to Spanish, latest info?

Have a friend who needs to change his uk licence to Spanish, conflicting info, seems to have changed since doing mine 5 or so years ago. Thanks

changed my licence last year, did not require a medical, it is needed on renewal of a spanish licence if over 45 years of age.

My partner changed his licence to Spanish and he did need a medical.He is 47 yrs old.
Went to the physio technico office in Catral and the lady who runs it will deal with your application including going to traffico.

Thanks a lot, the medical guy in Almaradi does not do the whole thing any more, only the medical,so will suggest my friend try's the Benijofar one. Or Catral Thanks Tony.

I have been waiting since April 2013 for my Spanish licence ... jumped through all the hoops, but am wondering what to do next, while my UK one is still sort-of valid!!

Have I missed something? From what I can see no-one said anything about 3 years.
