Rojales - Noche Mágica de la Encantá - 23rd June 2014 10pm

On Monday the 23rd June 2014 Rojales is celebrating the start of the festival of San Juan with a *Noche Mágica de la Encantá, roughly translated as 'Magical Night of Love', where there will be a walk up to the mount Cabecico Soler where a bonfire will be lit and then there will be some traditional fire jumping. Fire jumping, or fire running, is thought to cleanse the spirit and burn away all the bad of the past and allow a promising new future.

Sounds like a fun event - It is a good idea to bring a torch for the walk.

The evening event will leave from the market area near the Mercadona at 10pm (22:00 hrs).

*Allegedly there is a haunted Legend from traditional mythological stories passed on by word of mouth in the town of Rojales - An Arabian princess named Zulaida fell for a Christian prince, provoking the wrath of his father, the Moorish king, and apparently legend has it that the curse has lived forever in the haunted mountain called Cabezo Soler in Rojales.
