The map´s not very clear, but it starts at Maria Ascuncion (where the 'Cathedral' is) and ends at the Town hall.

Thank you.

Does anyone have any idea what these Carnivals are in aid of? It doesn't appear to be a Red day on the 1st March.

Starting a carnival on February 31st might be a bit awkward?
Actually they started on 31st January and events have been taking place each week throughout February.
They culminate in parades for the children on 23rd February with the main carnival parade next Saturday.
They celebrate a big blow out before the start of Lent and the children's parade is 9 days before Shrove Tuesday and the main carnival 3 days before Shrove Tuesday.
It all depends on when Easter is. This year it is late with Easter Sunday being on April 20th but next year is April 5th. The main carnivals next year will be earlier on 8th and 14th February so it has nothing to do with March 1st.

The big blowout before Lent is celebrated in many countries around the world and is known as Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday).
