Hi all, we have just come across your forum . Claire and myself have just commenced the purchase of a plot on Chafarinas (Up near the tennis courts) We have purchased this through Masa and Justo Quesada this a new build due for completion in July next year. We would be very keen to share in your experiences in such an adventure . Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated .This will be our retirement plan with a permanent move to Quesada (scarey big step) . Looking forward to meeting up kind regards R&C

Hi Russ and Claire
We moved in this September and really love it. We found Justo Quesada to be very good. We had a few alterations made throughout the build and María at Justo was really good. We are now getting snagging done and they couldn't be more helpful. If we email Justo about something we usually find one of the team at the house either within a few hours or the next day so can't complain. We are having problems with getting a fibre cable into the house and there was a whole team of them out yesterday. They got the cable in but there is a blockage in one of the ducts that won't allow the cable to get through from the street to our house. It is hitting the wall instead. They are now having an on site meeting with Telfy to solve the problem
Masa were good to begin with but were very slow towards the end. You will hear lots from them at the beginning and then nothing until nearer the end. Luckily we made a friend through this forum who kept us updated with building progress which is something Masa should have been doing. We got more info from him than we did from Masa. Maybe it was just our luck that the PA assigned to us was part time and had a family issue and was back in the UK a few times.
Hopefully this helps and if you want to know anything else just ask.

Hi Lorna
Thanks very much for your reply, it really has boosted our confidence in Justo Quesada
We were over in September and met Teresa from Justo, she was excellent and we were very pleased with her professionalism and personal interaction with us.
During your build process did you (or anyone else ) wish in hindsight that you should have included any other extras or upgrades?
I.e. Is your pool big enough (if you have one) built in shaded areas etc
Did you buy most of you furniture locally or did you buy on line and get it imported
Once again we would be pleased to be guided by all your experiences
We are coming over early November to meet up with Justo and Masa
Kind regards
Russ and Claire

Hi Russ and Claire
We added extras to our house about 4 times. We added extra metres in to the length of the house and added other things too. We emailed Justo and they came back with a price and if we liked it and it could be done Justo would send an Annex to be added to the contract and we would pay there and then for the extras. We never had any problems in doing that. If you are not sure about anything don't hesitate to contact them and they will let you know if it can be done. I think I changed the kitchen units about three times lol.
We only brought over personal things. We bought all our furniture over here and arranged for delivery once we had the keys. We had a ball at Leeroy Merlin buying all the lights and fans and curtain poles etc.
If you require Justo to put in your kitchen goods i.e. Oven, hob etc they can give you a price For that too. We got them to put in oven and hob. They supplied extractor fan but bought the rest ourselves
Hope this helps. Any more questions don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Lorna...back again
Well that option of seeking a greater audience went down well!,
So back to basics.... like yourselves my wife and I are planning this as a retirement move may we ask how you found this transition
Have you just slipped into it or have you had to adjust slowly
Have you settled in well with the local community
Anything that you would have done differently
Have you joined any groups or clubs
As you can properly gather we are quite exited but also apprehensive by all this not only the retirement but also settling in a new country
Kind regards

We have only been here since September so still settling in. Really like it and glad we made the move. Were obviously a bit apprehensive about moving but feel we have done the right thing. We are still waiting on furniture arriving and have been waiting weeks for internet. It is supposed to come on Wednesday but not holding my breath. Furniture companies have been great. Really quick with delivery and most of the time delivery and installation or building furniture is included in price.
Still trying to get residencia so we can get our SIP cards to register with the doctor so hopefully will get that soon.
Have made a few friends already who have been lovely and have given lots of information and help in how to do things and where to go. But whenever you are out having a drink or even eating people always talk to you. As yet we don’t have neighbours on either side
of us as plots still empty but I am sure when we do get them they will be nice. As I said everyone is very friendly
As I also said before we didn’t bring furniture over just 89 boxes and ladders, tools etc but it was a struggle in the UK getting everything packed. Very very stressful. And of course selling the house too was stressful but we were lucky and sold it the day after it went on the market
I am sure you will love it over here. Getting up in the morning and the sun is shining. Who can’t love that!! We certainly love it and don’t regret it one bit. I am sure you will love it too.

PS. The days go really quick here lol. Can’t believe time goes so quickly. Probably because you are finding out new places and things to do.

Really glad it has worked out for you and that the doom merchants have been proved wrong. There are some really good people on this forum but there are others with axes to grind and it might just be becoming apparent who they are.
